As we have promised, here are the mechanics on how to join the much anticipated Ranger Hunt 2011! Who will make it to the team this time? Read the details after the jump.
What is a Ranger?
- A “Ranger” is what we call our staff here at PKMN-ph.com. They do various tasks ranging from moderating forum threads, graphic designs, site promotions, planning of activities to attending our annual meetups. It is a painstaking task, but very fulfilling at the same time; thus the title: Pokémon Ranger.
What are the qualities that we are looking for in a Ranger?
* Must be ACTIVE and DEDICATED
- This is a must. The PKMN-ph community is something that you can’t procrastinate on. Whether the forum is booming or not, we need a Ranger who is always on-the-go. Dedication is also a big factor, since this is a “thank-less” job and not about making money. Our goal is to provide the ultimate hangout for our fellow Pinoy Pokémon fans; and not an ADVERTISING website.
I guess you’ve watched the Pokémon Rangers on the movies and animé episodes, right?
* Should have a deep LOVE and INTEREST for Pokémon
- Of course. It is our common language (aside from English and Tagalog), our Least Common Denominator, and our common…whatever. If you are not interested in Pokémon, then what are you doing here in the first place?
* With proper NETIQUETTES
- As a Ranger, we need to show our members that we are not one of those online people with bad reputations on the net, with a snob and grumpy attitude, and a fan of tXtSpK, l33tspk and JeJeSpk (we seriously despise this since we are on a website, NOT on a cellphone!).
What do we ACTUALLY need?
* Pokémon TCG Specialist / Article Writer
- The PKMN-ph Community doesn’t only support the video games and the animé, but also the TCG. In fact, when PKMN-ph first started as a community, we are very keen on supporting the TCG scene in the Philippines. But now, we are lagging behind since we don’t have any other ACTIVE representative from the TCG Community.
* Web Programmer
- Experienced web programmers are also welcome to join this competition. Knowledge in HTML, PHP, CSS, ASP, AJAX or any other Web Programming Language is a big factor.
* Moderator
- The forum topics are starting to pick up again. And with a depleted lineup, we are looking for more manpower so that we can monitor each posts and topics.
What to submit?

* Personal Information
- Full Name
- Username
- Birthday
- Location
* Summary of qualifications / talents
* Short Essay
- “Why should you be considered as the NEW PKMN-ph Ranger?”
The Selection Process
- Each application e-mail will be evaluated weekly by the current Ranger Team. This would also be the elimination round.
- From all the submitted applications, the team will select the TOP 4 candidates who will proceed to the next and final round.
- The candidates will undergo various trainings and challenges on our very own Ranger School! List of activities will be announced directly to the TOP 4 candidates.
- Only 2 candidates will emerge as winners after the final round.
