Pokemon battling started long time ago with the use of link cables. These cables were attached to the Gameboy in order for the player to trade and battle with one another and thus, making a scene, a really competitive one. As time goes by, Pokemon emerged and placed its very amusing concept on top of the competitive play for a handheld console – the Wi-Fi Battling.
Wi-Fi feature of the Nintendo DS finally gave birth to the Pokemon online scene which includes trading, battling, and sharing thoughts in a forum.
Basically, Wi-Fi battling is only one of the major heats of Pokemon and it is growing bigger. With the advent of Diamond and Pearl series in the year 2006, competitive Wi-Fi play swarmed around the world making Pokemon a success hit for another term just like the series’ predecessors.
Battling through Wi-Fi gives you something that even battling through a wireless connection with a friend just behind you don’t; Wi-Fi battling gives you more experience and ideas on how to use certain Pokemon and moves in a team. This feature also became a success in many forums; making gyms within the forum for the people to challenge just like what the game does in-game and making trainers meet-up with other fellow members of the forum to share things about Pokemon.
The battling scene here in the Philippines is quite small compared to the other countries but the scene is just fine because active players stay active and members from different parts of the country gathers to play Pokemon. One of the examples of the battling scene is our Pokemon League. Pokemon League challenges the members of the site to evaluate who is the Pokemon Champion within the forums. As the battlers go find their way, many of the other kids are joining too in order to prove their knowledge in Pokemon therefore, making the scene a success.
Pokemon Wi-Fi battling established a really good foundation for their future revolution. As the battling community grows, people will learn to love Pokemon, people will be battlers too and many trainers are yet to come for the future battling generations of Pokemon.
