Growing up in a catholic family in the late 80s is difficult.
It was a time when every church practice was strictly observed, especially during the Holy Week. Abstinence, absolute fasting, the pabasa, stations of the cross, visita iglesia, procession of the Sto. Entierro, you name it, most likely I’ve been forced to do it. I could’ve sworn my lola would have been very happy if I had agreed to be crucified as part of a panata.
Who would’ve thought I’d miss those days when we were deprived of television and radio for a whole week?
With the advent of cable tv, the internet, and mobile phones, younger generation of Christians prefer to take the occasion lightly. Most even regard it as an opportunity to go to the beach and enjoy the summer vacation.
But even so, I highly encourage you to take a moment’s rest and reflect. Jesus died for you. What are you willing to do for Him?
Have a peaceful week, everyone.
